*AMITABH BACHCHAN'S BIOGRAPHY*

Born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, Amitabh Bachchan hails from a Hindu Kayastha family.[3][4] his father, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a renowned Hindi poet, while his mother, Teji Bachchan was a Sikh from Faisalabad-Punjabi (now in Pakistan).[5] Bachchan was originally called Inquilaab, inspired from the famous phrase Inquilab Zindabad, during the independence struggle of India. At the suggestion of poet Harivansh Rai Sumitranandan Pant, however, changed the name to Amitabh which means, "the light that would never go off." Although his surname was Shrivastava, had his father adopted the pseudonym Bachchan (meaning child like in Hindi colloquial), where he published all his works. It is with this last name that Amitabh debuted in movies, and, for all public purposes, was the last name of all the members of his family. Father Bachchan died in 2003 and his mother in 2007.
AMITABH is the eldest of two sons of Harivansh Rai Bachchan, the other being Ajitabh. His mother had great interest in the theatre, and had been offered a role in a film, but rather their chores. She had a certain degree of influence in the choice of career Bachchans because she always insisted that he must be in the limelight.[7] He attended Allahabad's Jnana Prabodhini and Boys ' High School (BHS), followed by Nainital's Sherwood College, where she majored in art. Later he went to study at Kirori Mal College University of Delhi and completed a Bachelor's degree. Twenty years, Bachchan gave up a job as a broker of freight costs for shipping, bird and co., based in Calcutta, now known as Kolkata, in order to have an acting career.
